Dublin · DUB1

Dlaczego Dublin?

Clonshaugh is the industrial belt on the north side of Dublin where most of the city's data centres ended up, and DUB1 is one of them. The transatlantic cable itself lands on the west and south coasts, not here, so what the site actually gives you is the westbound routing off the island and an EU jurisdiction that still runs on common law. We opened it in 2019. INEX is the whole domestic peering story; Arelion, GTT and Cogent carry what leaves.

Co obsługuje

INEX is the only place in the fleet where Irish eyeball networks are reachable without a transit hop, which is what makes Dublin the default for an Irish audience. Arelion and GTT carry the onward paths to the American east coast, so the site doubles as the European end of a transatlantic pair.

Kompromis

Dublin sells out. Nineteen peers and 260 Gbit/s is a modest hall for a metro this busy, and we would rather show low stock than sell onto a host that is already drifting on steal. If the plan you want is unavailable, Manchester reaches the same users over transit rather than over INEX.

Pytania

Pytania o hosting w Irlandia

01Why does Dublin keep showing low stock?
Two reasons. Demand for Irish capacity outruns what we have racked there, and when a host drifts above 3% CPU steal we stop selling on it and migrate instances off rather than keep taking orders. Stock returns when the next tranche of hardware lands. Nothing is sold as available that does not physically exist.
02Dublin or London for a transatlantic workload?
London has the shortest transatlantic path in Europe and four carriers to Dublin's three, so on raw westbound latency it wins. Dublin wins on jurisdiction: it stayed inside the EU when London did not, which decides it if the data has to remain under EU law. The two are close enough to run as primary and standby.
03How many IP addresses do I get?
One dedicated IPv4 and a routed /64 of IPv6 with every plan. Up to eight extra IPv4 addresses can be added at €1.20 each per month, assigned from the region's own prefix so geolocation stays consistent. A routed /48 of IPv6 is €2 a month if you are running your own network behind us.
04Is DDoS protection included?
Yes, on every plan, with no separate charge and no traffic threshold. Volumetric attacks are absorbed by hardware scrubbers at the edge and mitigation engages in under four seconds. The advanced tier adds layer-7 scrubbing and rules you write yourself, which matters for game servers and public APIs but not for much else.
05Is port 25 open? Can I run a mail server?
Port 25 is closed by default on new instances and opened on request — send a ticket saying what you are sending and to roughly how many recipients. It usually takes under an hour. Custom reverse DNS on both v4 and v6 is self-service from the console, which is the part that actually determines whether your mail lands.
06Which region should I pick?
The one closest to your users, not to you. Every location costs the same, so there is no reason to compromise. The locations page lists median round trip from residential probes in each metro, and there is a live latency test on every site page. If you are unsure, Frankfurt and Amsterdam reach the most people in the fewest milliseconds.
07Can I move an existing server to another country?
You can deploy a replacement in the new region and migrate, and support will run the transfer for you at no charge if you ask. What we cannot do is move an instance between regions in place — the disk stays where the metal is, and the IP address belongs to that region's prefix.
