Waarom hosten in Bulgarije?

Sofia takes workloads that run continuously and do not care about a millisecond either way: mirrors, build farms, monitoring probes, Tor middle relays and bridges. Buyers usually arrive from Bucharest wanting a second Balkan country on separate fibre, or from Frankfurt wanting Neterra's regional reach rather than another transit hop.

Juridisch kader

Sofia is EU territory: the GDPR applies through the Personal Data Protection Act, and the Commission for Personal Data Protection supervises it. Bulgaria keeps a retention regime in its electronic communications law, written for telecommunications operators rather than for hosts, and how far it reaches a hosting provider is one of the genuinely unsettled questions across the EU since the Court of Justice struck down blanket retention. Removal of lawful content is a court's decision rather than a complainant's; the conduct in section 1 of the acceptable use policy is our own decision and does not wait for one.

Vragen specifiek voor Bulgarije

01Does hosting in Bulgaria mean EU data-protection law applies to my instance?
Not by itself. The GDPR follows the controller and the people whose data is processed — where you are established, and whose users you serve — rather than the country the disk sits in. If it applies to you, the authority you deal with is the one for your own establishment, not automatically the Commission for Personal Data Protection. What the Sofia site settles is our side of it: we process what section 1 of the privacy policy lists, under EU law, and a request about that instance is answered under Bulgarian law because that is where the disk is. What sits on your disks stays yours — we do not inspect it and hold no credentials to it.
02Can I run a Tor exit node in Sofia?
No. Middle relays and bridges are fine here, as they are at every site. Exits are permitted in Amsterdam, Reykjavík, Chișinău and Bucharest only, because those are the four places whose upstreams will carry the traffic. Bucharest is the nearest exit-capable room to Sofia.

Vragen

Vragen over hosten in Bulgarije

01Do I really not have to verify my identity?
Correct. Ordering requires an email address and a payment, and that is the whole list. There is no document upload, no selfie, no phone verification, no address check and no card on file. We have never run identity verification and we do not plan to start — the cheapest way to protect customer documents is to never hold any.
02What do you actually store about me?
Your email address, your invoices, the configuration of your servers, and 72 hours of NetFlow-level connection metadata used only for abuse investigation. Nothing else. When you close the account, all of it is erased within 24 hours except invoices, which accounting law makes us keep for ten years — those hold an invoice name of your choosing and no verified identity.
03Why can I only buy six or twelve months at a time?
Because it is what makes the price possible. Monthly billing means churn, idle capacity kept warm for people who might come back, payment retries and support load. Selling in terms removes all of it, and lets us buy hardware against known demand rather than a forecast. The saving goes straight into the rate card — a twelve-month Base works out around 20% below the six-month rate, and both are below what monthly billing would cost us to offer.
04How many IP addresses do I get?
One dedicated IPv4 and a routed /64 of IPv6 with every plan. Up to eight extra IPv4 addresses can be added at €1.20 each per month, assigned from the region's own prefix so geolocation stays consistent. A routed /48 of IPv6 is €2 a month if you are running your own network behind us.
05Is DDoS protection included?
Yes, on every plan, with no separate charge and no traffic threshold. Volumetric attacks are absorbed by hardware scrubbers at the edge and mitigation engages in under four seconds. The advanced tier adds layer-7 scrubbing and rules you write yourself, which matters for game servers and public APIs but not for much else.
06Is port 25 open? Can I run a mail server?
Port 25 is closed by default on new instances and opened on request — send a ticket saying what you are sending and to roughly how many recipients. It usually takes under an hour. Custom reverse DNS on both v4 and v6 is self-service from the console, which is the part that actually determines whether your mail lands.
