Waarom hosten in Zuid-Korea?

Seoul is bought for Korean users and effectively nothing else. Game studios, streaming front-ends and Korean-language app back-ends take it rather than Tokyo, because a sea crossing shows up immediately against a domestic connection. KINX is a neutral exchange, which is how the domestic eyeball networks get reached without going through an incumbent.

Juridisch kader

Korea's Personal Information Protection Act applies, supervised by the Personal Information Protection Commission, which enforces it actively. Retention duties under the communications secrets legislation attach to telecommunications business operators, a category the Telecommunications Business Act draws wider than most people expect; we do not read it as covering a foreign company renting virtual machines, but that reading has not been tested and we will not sell it as settled. Content complaints do not always begin in a court: the Korea Communications Standards Commission can direct removal or blocking, and the network legislation allows a temporary measure on request.

Vragen specifiek voor Zuid-Korea

01How are content complaints handled for a Seoul instance?
The same way as everywhere: forwarded to you with the evidence and twenty-four hours to reply, and we do not act on unverified reports. Where Korea differs is that a removal or blocking direction can come from a standards commission rather than a judge, so the paperwork you receive may not look like a court order.
02Seoul or Tokyo for an audience split between Japan and Korea?
Run both, or pick by where the money is. Tokyo is the larger site with far more peers and it is the better single choice if you can only have one. Seoul is the better answer for Korean users specifically, because the domestic networks are reached at KINX instead of over a subsea hop. Both cost the same.

Vragen

Vragen over hosten in Zuid-Korea

01Do I really not have to verify my identity?
Correct. Ordering requires an email address and a payment, and that is the whole list. There is no document upload, no selfie, no phone verification, no address check and no card on file. We have never run identity verification and we do not plan to start — the cheapest way to protect customer documents is to never hold any.
02What do you actually store about me?
Your email address, your invoices, the configuration of your servers, and 72 hours of NetFlow-level connection metadata used only for abuse investigation. Nothing else. When you close the account, all of it is erased within 24 hours except invoices, which accounting law makes us keep for ten years — those hold an invoice name of your choosing and no verified identity.
03Why can I only buy six or twelve months at a time?
Because it is what makes the price possible. Monthly billing means churn, idle capacity kept warm for people who might come back, payment retries and support load. Selling in terms removes all of it, and lets us buy hardware against known demand rather than a forecast. The saving goes straight into the rate card — a twelve-month Base works out around 20% below the six-month rate, and both are below what monthly billing would cost us to offer.
04How many IP addresses do I get?
One dedicated IPv4 and a routed /64 of IPv6 with every plan. Up to eight extra IPv4 addresses can be added at €1.20 each per month, assigned from the region's own prefix so geolocation stays consistent. A routed /48 of IPv6 is €2 a month if you are running your own network behind us.
05Is DDoS protection included?
Yes, on every plan, with no separate charge and no traffic threshold. Volumetric attacks are absorbed by hardware scrubbers at the edge and mitigation engages in under four seconds. The advanced tier adds layer-7 scrubbing and rules you write yourself, which matters for game servers and public APIs but not for much else.
06Is port 25 open? Can I run a mail server?
Port 25 is closed by default on new instances and opened on request — send a ticket saying what you are sending and to roughly how many recipients. It usually takes under an hour. Custom reverse DNS on both v4 and v6 is self-service from the console, which is the part that actually determines whether your mail lands.
