IT · Il quadro giuridico

Perché ospitare in Italia?

Milan is what Italian traffic uses when it is not going to Frankfurt, and it is where MIX-IT peering actually shortens the path to Italian eyeballs. Customers run storefronts, media delivery and game servers for an Italian audience, plus Sparkle-routed workloads aimed at Greece, Malta and the Levant.

Il quadro giuridico

Italy applies the GDPR through the Codice in materia di protezione dei dati personali, supervised by the Garante. Retention periods here are among the longer ones in Europe, and the rules are written for telecommunications operators; how far they reach a hosting provider sits in the same unsettled space the Court of Justice left across the EU. One thing worth knowing before choosing Milan: for copyright, AGCOM can order removal or blocking administratively, without a court first.

Domande specifiche: Italia

01What happens if an Italian authority orders content on my Milan instance blocked?
We forward it to you with everything we received, as with any complaint, and we comply where the order is valid in Italy — that is the country the disk sits in. We tell you unless we are legally barred from doing so. If your content routinely attracts copyright complaints, Milan is a harder room to sit in than most.
02Milan or Frankfurt for Italian users?
Milan, if the audience is in Italy. Traffic that misses MIX-IT tends to go north to Frankfurt and come back, which costs more than the peering saves. Frankfurt still wins on capacity and peer count — 1600 Gbit/s against Milan's 340 — so Milan in front with Frankfurt behind is a common split.

Domande

Domande sull'hosting in Italia

01Do I really not have to verify my identity?
Correct. Ordering requires an email address and a payment, and that is the whole list. There is no document upload, no selfie, no phone verification, no address check and no card on file. We have never run identity verification and we do not plan to start — the cheapest way to protect customer documents is to never hold any.
02What do you actually store about me?
Your email address, your invoices, the configuration of your servers, and 72 hours of NetFlow-level connection metadata used only for abuse investigation. Nothing else. When you close the account, all of it is erased within 24 hours except invoices, which accounting law makes us keep for ten years — those hold an invoice name of your choosing and no verified identity.
03Why can I only buy six or twelve months at a time?
Because it is what makes the price possible. Monthly billing means churn, idle capacity kept warm for people who might come back, payment retries and support load. Selling in terms removes all of it, and lets us buy hardware against known demand rather than a forecast. The saving goes straight into the rate card — a twelve-month Base works out around 20% below the six-month rate, and both are below what monthly billing would cost us to offer.
04How many IP addresses do I get?
One dedicated IPv4 and a routed /64 of IPv6 with every plan. Up to eight extra IPv4 addresses can be added at €1.20 each per month, assigned from the region's own prefix so geolocation stays consistent. A routed /48 of IPv6 is €2 a month if you are running your own network behind us.
05Is DDoS protection included?
Yes, on every plan, with no separate charge and no traffic threshold. Volumetric attacks are absorbed by hardware scrubbers at the edge and mitigation engages in under four seconds. The advanced tier adds layer-7 scrubbing and rules you write yourself, which matters for game servers and public APIs but not for much else.
06Is port 25 open? Can I run a mail server?
Port 25 is closed by default on new instances and opened on request — send a ticket saying what you are sending and to roughly how many recipients. It usually takes under an hour. Custom reverse DNS on both v4 and v6 is self-service from the console, which is the part that actually determines whether your mail lands.
