CH · Il quadro giuridico

Perché ospitare in Svizzera?

Zurich is chosen for the law rather than for the round trip: private clouds and file sync moved off a hyperscaler, password and note vaults, VPN endpoints, and second copies kept deliberately outside the EU. It is the site customers name when the question is not where their users sit but which country the disk should sit in.

Il quadro giuridico

Switzerland is outside the EU and runs the revised Federal Act on Data Protection, supervised by the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner. It is sold as a place where nothing can be asked of a provider, which is not accurate. Swiss surveillance law places a six-month metadata retention duty on telecommunications providers and a much lighter set of obligations on providers of derived communications services, which is the category a virtual-server host sits closest to; requests run through the Post and Telecommunications Surveillance Service with judicial authorisation. Content comes down on an order. The authorisation step is the part that matters.

Domande specifiche: Svizzera

01Does a Swiss instance put my data outside EU law?
It puts the data under Swiss law, because the law that applies is the law of the country the metal sits in. Your own obligations are a separate question: if the GDPR applies to what you do with your users' data, it still applies with the disk in Zurich. Requests for anything we hold about a Zurich instance are answered under Swiss procedure, and we tell you unless we are barred from doing so.
02Why does Zurich so often show low stock?
Because we stop selling on a host that drifts past three per cent CPU steal and migrate instances off it, and Zurich is a smaller hall than Frankfurt or Amsterdam with less room to absorb that. Stock returns when the next delivery is racked. If the configure page shows it as low, the plan is still deployable — it is a warning, not a queue.

Domande

Domande sull'hosting in Svizzera

01Do I really not have to verify my identity?
Correct. Ordering requires an email address and a payment, and that is the whole list. There is no document upload, no selfie, no phone verification, no address check and no card on file. We have never run identity verification and we do not plan to start — the cheapest way to protect customer documents is to never hold any.
02What do you actually store about me?
Your email address, your invoices, the configuration of your servers, and 72 hours of NetFlow-level connection metadata used only for abuse investigation. Nothing else. When you close the account, all of it is erased within 24 hours except invoices, which accounting law makes us keep for ten years — those hold an invoice name of your choosing and no verified identity.
03Why can I only buy six or twelve months at a time?
Because it is what makes the price possible. Monthly billing means churn, idle capacity kept warm for people who might come back, payment retries and support load. Selling in terms removes all of it, and lets us buy hardware against known demand rather than a forecast. The saving goes straight into the rate card — a twelve-month Base works out around 20% below the six-month rate, and both are below what monthly billing would cost us to offer.
04How many IP addresses do I get?
One dedicated IPv4 and a routed /64 of IPv6 with every plan. Up to eight extra IPv4 addresses can be added at €1.20 each per month, assigned from the region's own prefix so geolocation stays consistent. A routed /48 of IPv6 is €2 a month if you are running your own network behind us.
05Is DDoS protection included?
Yes, on every plan, with no separate charge and no traffic threshold. Volumetric attacks are absorbed by hardware scrubbers at the edge and mitigation engages in under four seconds. The advanced tier adds layer-7 scrubbing and rules you write yourself, which matters for game servers and public APIs but not for much else.
06Is port 25 open? Can I run a mail server?
Port 25 is closed by default on new instances and opened on request — send a ticket saying what you are sending and to roughly how many recipients. It usually takes under an hour. Custom reverse DNS on both v4 and v6 is self-service from the console, which is the part that actually determines whether your mail lands.
