SE · Il quadro giuridico

Perché ospitare in Svezia?

Stockholm serves the Nordic audience and a steady stream of self-hosting: Nextcloud and file sync, mail, media libraries, and backup targets that customers want outside the German and Dutch cores. It is chosen over Helsinki for Netnod peering and the larger hall; Helsinki wins when the district-heating loop is the deciding argument.

Il quadro giuridico

The GDPR applies, implemented by the Swedish data-protection act and supervised by Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten, IMY. Sweden kept a retention duty on providers of electronic communications and rewrote it after the Court of Justice narrowed what member states may require; how it bears on a hosting provider is a separate and, broadly, unsettled question. Swedish law also permits signals intelligence on cable traffic crossing the border, which is a reason to encrypt what leaves the machine. Removal of content follows a court order — except for the section 1 conduct in the acceptable use policy, which we do not wait for one to act on.

Domande specifiche: Svezia

01Does Sweden's retention regime mean logs are kept about my server?
It does not change the list, which is the same in Stockholm as everywhere: an email address, invoices, instance configurations, seventy-two hours of NetFlow used only for abuse work, and thirty days of console login records. Those duties are addressed to providers of electronic communications, and how far they reach a host is unsettled — but that is a question about what we could be ordered to keep, not about what exists now. If an order valid in Sweden arrives we produce that list, and we tell you unless a court forbids it.
02Stockholm or Frankfurt for a Nordic audience?
Stockholm, if the users are Nordic — Netnod keeps the traffic inside the region rather than hauling it to Germany and back. Frankfurt is the better answer when the same instance also serves continental Europe, and it has far more capacity behind it. The price is identical, so nothing but latency and law is at stake.

Domande

Domande sull'hosting in Svezia

01Do I really not have to verify my identity?
Correct. Ordering requires an email address and a payment, and that is the whole list. There is no document upload, no selfie, no phone verification, no address check and no card on file. We have never run identity verification and we do not plan to start — the cheapest way to protect customer documents is to never hold any.
02What do you actually store about me?
Your email address, your invoices, the configuration of your servers, and 72 hours of NetFlow-level connection metadata used only for abuse investigation. Nothing else. When you close the account, all of it is erased within 24 hours except invoices, which accounting law makes us keep for ten years — those hold an invoice name of your choosing and no verified identity.
03Why can I only buy six or twelve months at a time?
Because it is what makes the price possible. Monthly billing means churn, idle capacity kept warm for people who might come back, payment retries and support load. Selling in terms removes all of it, and lets us buy hardware against known demand rather than a forecast. The saving goes straight into the rate card — a twelve-month Base works out around 20% below the six-month rate, and both are below what monthly billing would cost us to offer.
04How many IP addresses do I get?
One dedicated IPv4 and a routed /64 of IPv6 with every plan. Up to eight extra IPv4 addresses can be added at €1.20 each per month, assigned from the region's own prefix so geolocation stays consistent. A routed /48 of IPv6 is €2 a month if you are running your own network behind us.
05Is DDoS protection included?
Yes, on every plan, with no separate charge and no traffic threshold. Volumetric attacks are absorbed by hardware scrubbers at the edge and mitigation engages in under four seconds. The advanced tier adds layer-7 scrubbing and rules you write yourself, which matters for game servers and public APIs but not for much else.
06Is port 25 open? Can I run a mail server?
Port 25 is closed by default on new instances and opened on request — send a ticket saying what you are sending and to roughly how many recipients. It usually takes under an hour. Custom reverse DNS on both v4 and v6 is self-service from the console, which is the part that actually determines whether your mail lands.
