Reykjavík · KEF1
KEF1 is out at Ásbrú, near Keflavík rather than in the capital, close to where Farice's fibre leaves the island. It has run since 2020, and it is the site customers name in the order rather than pick off a dropdown — usually because of who can and cannot compel a takedown. Tor exit traffic runs here, which is true of only four rooms in the fleet.
What it reaches
Farice is the fibre on and off the island and RIX.IS is the domestic exchange; between them Iceland is covered completely. Everyone else is buying jurisdiction rather than milliseconds, and accepting a subsea leg to reach the mainland at all.
The trade-off
Six milliseconds inside the metro is our highest European figure, and eight peering sessions the fewest of any site we run. Iceland is an island: the path to the mainland is set by the cable, not by us.
