A Nextcloud VPS: your files, on a disk you rent by name

Nextcloud on a €10 server with 200 GB of NVMe replaces most of what a cloud drive subscription does, at a tenth of the price for a team of twenty — and the storage is fast enough that the desktop client stops feeling like a compromise.

Why people move here

VPS for Nextcloud

01

Postgres, not SQLite

The all-in-one image we ship uses PostgreSQL and Redis from the start. SQLite works until about five users and then makes Nextcloud feel slow in a way people blame on the server.

02

NVMe is what the sync client notices

Nextcloud's bottleneck is thousands of small file operations, not throughput. 224 000 random-read IOPS on the Work plan is why a 40 000-file initial sync finishes in minutes rather than an evening.

03

Storage that grows without a migration

Additional NVMe is €2.40 per 50 GB per month and grows the volume online, without a reboot. Start at 200 GB and add more the month you need it.

04

Pick the jurisdiction on purpose

If the point is to get files out of somebody else's cloud, the country matters. Zurich sits under Swiss data-protection law, Stockholm and Helsinki under the strictest EU implementations.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

01Are backups included?
Two manual snapshots per instance are free and always available. Scheduled backups are an option priced as 10% of the compute line for weekly and 20% for daily — weekly keeps four restore points in the same country, daily keeps fourteen in a second one. Restores are self-service from the console and take minutes, not a ticket.
02Can I resize a server mid-term?
Upwards, at any time, with the difference pro-rated across the remaining term. Downwards at the end of the term. Memory and vCPU changes need a reboot; disk grows online. Moving between regions is a rebuild, not a resize — the data does not follow.
03How can it be this cheap and still be fast?
Three reasons, none of them exciting. We buy last-generation-plus-one EPYC hosts outright instead of renting capacity from a hyperscaler. We sell terms, so a host is full the day it is racked instead of three months later. And we do not employ a sales team. What we do not do is oversubscribe past 3:1 on fair-share plans or past 1:1 on dedicated-core plans — the numbers on the performance page come from production hosts under real load.
04What do you actually store about me?
Your email address, your invoices, the configuration of your servers, and 72 hours of NetFlow-level connection metadata used only for abuse investigation. Nothing else. When you close the account, all of it is erased within 24 hours except invoices, which accounting law makes us keep for ten years — those hold an invoice name of your choosing and no verified identity.
