Why host in India?
Mumbai is a latency decision: serving Indian users from Singapore or Dubai adds a sea crossing, and the difference is visible in a page-load waterfall. Customers run app back-ends, payment webhooks and mirrors here. Buying transit from both Tata and Airtel means the big domestic eyeball networks are reached directly rather than through someone else's transit.
The legal picture
India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act is on the books and, as of writing, still being brought into force in stages, with a Data Protection Board of India to supervise it. The sharper point for a buyer is CERT-In's direction on log retention and incident reporting: it names virtual private server providers by that description, it is written to reach operators outside India serving Indian users, and the retention period it sets is far longer than the seventy-two hours in our privacy policy. What is unsettled is enforcement against a foreign company, not whether the wording points at us. Content removal runs on a court order or a government notification.

01Does the CERT-In logging direction change what you keep in Mumbai?
What we hold is the list in the privacy policy, in Mumbai as everywhere: an email address, invoices, instance configuration, and 72 hours of NetFlow-level metadata for abuse work. The CERT-In direction asks for considerably more than that, and it is written to cover virtual private server providers outside India. Whether it can be enforced against an Estonian company is the unsettled part, and we would rather you knew that before ordering than after. 02Mumbai or Singapore for Indian users?
Mumbai, if the users are in India. Singapore is a bigger site with denser peering, but the traffic still crosses the Bay of Bengal and back. Choose Singapore when your audience is spread across South-East Asia, or when the jurisdiction question above matters more to you than the round trip.

Questions about hosting in India
01Do I really not have to verify my identity?
Correct. Ordering requires an email address and a payment, and that is the whole list. There is no document upload, no selfie, no phone verification, no address check and no card on file. We have never run identity verification and we do not plan to start — the cheapest way to protect customer documents is to never hold any.
02What do you actually store about me?
Your email address, your invoices, the configuration of your servers, and 72 hours of NetFlow-level connection metadata used only for abuse investigation. Nothing else. When you close the account, all of it is erased within 24 hours except invoices, which accounting law makes us keep for ten years — those hold an invoice name of your choosing and no verified identity.
03Why can I only buy six or twelve months at a time?
Because it is what makes the price possible. Monthly billing means churn, idle capacity kept warm for people who might come back, payment retries and support load. Selling in terms removes all of it, and lets us buy hardware against known demand rather than a forecast. The saving goes straight into the rate card — a twelve-month Base works out around 20% below the six-month rate, and both are below what monthly billing would cost us to offer.
04How many IP addresses do I get?
One dedicated IPv4 and a routed /64 of IPv6 with every plan. Up to eight extra IPv4 addresses can be added at €1.20 each per month, assigned from the region's own prefix so geolocation stays consistent. A routed /48 of IPv6 is €2 a month if you are running your own network behind us.
05Is DDoS protection included?
Yes, on every plan, with no separate charge and no traffic threshold. Volumetric attacks are absorbed by hardware scrubbers at the edge and mitigation engages in under four seconds. The advanced tier adds layer-7 scrubbing and rules you write yourself, which matters for game servers and public APIs but not for much else.
06Is port 25 open? Can I run a mail server?
Port 25 is closed by default on new instances and opened on request — send a ticket saying what you are sending and to roughly how many recipients. It usually takes under an hour. Custom reverse DNS on both v4 and v6 is self-service from the console, which is the part that actually determines whether your mail lands.
