Why host in United States?
Six sites, six different arguments. New York and Ashburn for east-coast reach and the European path, Los Angeles for anything facing Asia, Dallas when you want one machine to serve the whole country, Miami for Latin America and the Caribbean, Seattle for the Pacific North-West. Most orders are game servers, trading terminals, CDN origins and VPN endpoints.
The legal picture
There is no general federal data protection statute; the private-sector rules are a patchwork of state laws, with California's Privacy Protection Agency the only dedicated regulator and state attorneys general enforcing the rest. No general retention mandate reaches hosting providers, but federal law lets an agency require that records already held be preserved while it obtains process — the same targeted-preservation shape Ireland moved to, and the reason a short retention list matters more than a permissive statute. The DMCA is the process everyone expects, but as our acceptable use policy says, we are not a United States provider and cannot claim its safe harbour, so we run an equivalent notice-and-counter-notice voluntarily.

01You are an Estonian company. Whose law applies to a US instance?
The law of the place the disk sits, which for these six sites is the United States. Our contract is governed by Estonian law, but that clause does not follow the data. A request has to be valid where the server is, we produce only what the privacy policy lists, and we tell you unless a court bars us.
02Does the DMCA apply to my server in Ashburn?
Notices arrive addressed as if it does. We are not a United States provider, so the statutory safe harbour is not ours to claim, and we run an equivalent notice-and-counter-notice process voluntarily instead. In practice that means the complaint reaches you with its evidence and twenty-four hours to answer, and nothing is deleted on our say-so.

01Do I really not have to verify my identity?
Correct. Ordering requires an email address and a payment, and that is the whole list. There is no document upload, no selfie, no phone verification, no address check and no card on file. We have never run identity verification and we do not plan to start — the cheapest way to protect customer documents is to never hold any.
02What do you actually store about me?
Your email address, your invoices, the configuration of your servers, and 72 hours of NetFlow-level connection metadata used only for abuse investigation. Nothing else. When you close the account, all of it is erased within 24 hours except invoices, which accounting law makes us keep for ten years — those hold an invoice name of your choosing and no verified identity.
03Why can I only buy six or twelve months at a time?
Because it is what makes the price possible. Monthly billing means churn, idle capacity kept warm for people who might come back, payment retries and support load. Selling in terms removes all of it, and lets us buy hardware against known demand rather than a forecast. The saving goes straight into the rate card — a twelve-month Base works out around 20% below the six-month rate, and both are below what monthly billing would cost us to offer.
04How many IP addresses do I get?
One dedicated IPv4 and a routed /64 of IPv6 with every plan. Up to eight extra IPv4 addresses can be added at €1.20 each per month, assigned from the region's own prefix so geolocation stays consistent. A routed /48 of IPv6 is €2 a month if you are running your own network behind us.
05Is DDoS protection included?
Yes, on every plan, with no separate charge and no traffic threshold. Volumetric attacks are absorbed by hardware scrubbers at the edge and mitigation engages in under four seconds. The advanced tier adds layer-7 scrubbing and rules you write yourself, which matters for game servers and public APIs but not for much else.
06Is port 25 open? Can I run a mail server?
Port 25 is closed by default on new instances and opened on request — send a ticket saying what you are sending and to roughly how many recipients. It usually takes under an hour. Custom reverse DNS on both v4 and v6 is self-service from the console, which is the part that actually determines whether your mail lands.
